It was a beautiful autumn day when the leaves were turning a vibrant shade of red. Kevin Ok, the founder who commuted to Wall Street at the time, was wearing a shirt that matched the color of the autumn leaves. The disheveled collar was noticeable. Oh no. Just like the beautiful shirt, his heart was also turning the color of autumn leaves, but the drooping collar was causing his spirits to fall like fallen leaves.
He desperately wanted to straighten his collar. ‘This is my favorite shirt... Is it now unable to support me?’ His mood could change just by fixing his collar. He felt that if he could straighten his collar, his day would go smoothly. He saw that his daily life was affected by something as small as a collar.
When the collar is stiff, his spirit is also upright. But then another thought came to him. Would it be enough to just straighten the collar? What if he also secured the band that connects to the shirt collar? Clear ideas about the collar structure followed. He applied for a patent and traveled all the way to Korea to find good materials and designs. And that's how i-stays was born.
